At Quinta do Casal Monteiro we are passionate about the art of winemaking, excelling to take special care, love and attention into every step of the vinification process.

The Terroir

We take our role as custodians of the land very seriously, as such we adopt traditional viticulture methods allied with ecological integrated management practice to sustain our vines.

The Wines

Made exclusively from Estate-grown grapes, for each brand, a different purpose and an appropriate blend, nonetheless the philosophy remains the same: The best quality possible in each segment.

There are few forms of human endeavour that rely so heavily on the heritage and the skills of those who went before us like the art of the wine maker. Our legacy of quality and innovation, stems from the inheritance of the vineyard by Dom Luis de Margaride in 1928, an aristocrat descendant of the Counts of Margaride and the Counts of Sobral. Dom Luís de Magaride was a man of vision and passion, a man who devoted his life to the study and research of viniculture and the creation of fine wines in the Tagus valley in his native Portugal. His passion and dedication remains encapsulated in a vast body of work, regarded by Portuguese and other international wine makers, as the definitive thesis on Portuguese wine making.

Dom Luís de Margaride legacy to us, the current guardians in the heritage of the Quinta do Casal Monteiro, apart from this extensive collection of writings and works, is a passion to produce fine wines worthy of his heritage, while remaining true to his ethos of innovation.
